Dear 2nd Grade Families,

Happy October! I can't believe how fast this fall is going by. Please check out the picture section and take a look at your children hard at work. Here are some notes and reminders for this week.

Important Dates

October 12th: Cyber Safety Presentation

October 14th: I will be out of the classroom in the PM for a meeting. Please call the office with any pick up changes.

This week in...

Reading: We will continue to make connections. Our focus with be meaningful text to self connections and text to text connections.

Writing: We will continue to write small moment stories, revise with intent and add strong leads to our stories.

Science: In science we continue to observe our Alfalfa and Rye Grass plants along with our Brassica plants. Ask your child what changes they have seen.

Homework: In 2nd grade homework is assigned nightly in math and reading. In math your child should be finishing the assigned homework each night and bringing it back to school to their math teacher. If no math homework is assigned your child should still be practicing their math facts. In reading your child is expected to read nightly for 20 minutes. We do not assign reading logs. We feel this ends up being more of a burden then anything else. They must still read each night.

Thank you for all your help with your 2nd graders. If you have any questions please let me know!
